NYIT senior Nicole Swistun, a pitcher for the women’s softball team, was honored with the Outstanding Academic Award from NYCAC at its fourth annual Women’s Senior Brunch this spring. Swistun and two other college students earned the highest grade point averages (GPAs) among female student athletes in the NYCAC Conference.
Swistun earned a 3.97 GPA while completing her doctorate in physical therapy. As part of the program, students undergo a rigorous class schedule that requires them to complete 100 credits in three years. For Swistun, this also means taking finals that often coincide with her hectic softball game schedule as well as completing eight weeks of off-site clinical education in a physical therapy office. |
