You've Got Mail-From NYIT
You're invited to a digital class reunion. There's no need for a crash diet. Don't rent a tux. And save your manicure money. This reunion is held every month-online-in the form of an electronic newsletter called Alumni Update.
The e-newsletter, which debuted in the fall, highlights upcoming alumni events where you can network with new contacts, mingle with old friends and reconnect with NYIT. It also lets you know about recent NYIT achievements and highlights a graduate of the month. Visit www.nyit.edu/alumni to update your personal information and automatically receive the newsletter. All you need is a computer with an Internet connection and an e-mail address. We'll do the rest. And we promise not to sell or give your e-mail address to spammers.
You'll notice clear synergies between the e-newsletter and NYIT Magazine. We consciously share information between these two
publications as we build strong, lasting bonds between NYIT, our 61,000 alumni and friends of the institution.
The bonds take many forms. Some alumni return to NYIT as faculty members, who share their real-world professional experience with our current students. Other graduates and former NYIT researchers are digital animation vanguards in Silicon Valley and Hollywood. Still others are leading new chapters of the NYIT Alumni Federation or volunteering at NYIT events across the country.
Those who connect with NYIT are witnessing this institution's rapid evolution. Three prime examples:
- In addition to our primary campuses (one in Manhattan and two on Long Island), we have successful international programs in Canada, Asia and the Middle East.
- We've launched a broadband network, wireless systems and an award-winning Web site that improve communications across the NYIT community.
- And our academic programs have captured the attention of business and community leaders, including Computer Associates Chairman and CEO Sanjay Kumar and top Walt Disney Feature Animation expert Matt Elson.
Of course, NYIT's greatest claim to fame is the success of our alumni. Whether you're raising a family, assisting a community or building a business, please share your achievements with NYIT's Director of Alumni and Government Relations Jeff Morosoff (alumni@nyit.edu) or Managing Editor Kathi Vieser (kvieser@nyit.edu). We'll make every reasonable effort to mention you in a future edition of NYIT Magazine or Alumni Update.
We hope you enjoy this issue and your new e-newsletter, and please keep the feedback coming. We're always seeking your story ideas, personal updates and vivid memories of NYIT's history.
