Internship Certificate Program - Orientation I

Learning Center

The Learning Center helps students meet their academic goals by providing free tutoring in a variety of academic and skill building subjects both in-person and online.

In-Person

To sign-up for in-person tutoring, complete the online request form indicating the subjects in which you need help and your availability. You can also stop by the Learning Center on your campus to speak with an assistant about setting up a weekly tutoring appointment.

Online

The Learning Center is committed to helping students with a variety of learning styles and preferences. If you are unable to attend sessions in person, or require tutoring that is only offered on a different campus, we will connect you with NYIT tutors to work with you via Skype. You can sign up by completing an online request form (make sure to check the box that indicates you would like online sessions) or stop by the Learning Center on your campus.

Free online tutoring is also available through Brainfuse (help in some subjects, like math, is available 24/7!). You can access Brainfuse through your NYIT Connect account.

We offer tutoring in many academic subjects, including those listed below. In addition to your tutoring, be sure to click on any subject to get access to helpful online resources:

Contact your local Learning Center to ask about tutoring in a specific course.

In addition to academic tutoring, we offer skill building tutoring on the topics listed below. For more information on these topics and links to online resources, view the online skill building resources page.

  • Time Management
  • Test Taking Techniques
  • Study Skills and Planning
  • Reviewing for Finals
  • Note Taking

► We offer several resources for students looking forward to graduate school in our Learning Centers. MCAT preparation software is available for use in the Learning Center, as well as popular GRE and GMAT preparation books. Be sure to also check out some of these graduate school resources for research and preparation.

► If you are taking a design or drawing class, we also offer pen capture tablets for use in the Learning Centers on each campus. Just ask the assistant at your local Learning Center for more information.

► Got a big test coming up in your math class? You can borrow a high quality graphing calculator from the Learning Center to help you ace the exam (note: you must leave your student or other ID in the Learning Center - this will be returned to you once you return the calculator).
