On April 25, 2014, a group of NYIT faculty members led a discussion about the relationship between arts and sciences as a panel at SOURCE 2014.
The topics of discussions included:
What is art and science of the 21st century and historical battles between them
What is in common between arts and sciences and how they help one another
In what context arts and sciences are the same
What does it mean to be a human now with all the technology integrated with our life
The discussion was held at NYIT Auditorium on Broadway in NYC with questions and answers from the live audience and Twitter. Because of the success of the panel discussion, an extended broader dialogue will continue throughout the next academic year. The following are leading panelists:
Dr. Gail Linsenbard of Social Science
Dr. Ana Petrovic of Life Sciences
Professor Mathew Ford of Architecture
Professor Yuko Oda of Fine Arts
Dr. Kevin LaGrandeur of English
The panel was moderated by Dean Roger Yu of NYIT’s College of Arts and Sciences.
