United Nations Youth Forum The United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) is looking for engaged NYIT students to participate in its annual youth forum at the United Nations in New York City on March 27 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Space is limited to the first 50 students. Enterprise Systems (ES) Forum Prominent engineers will speak about skills needed by ES professionals on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 8:30- 11:45 a.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, 1871 Broadway (between 61st and 62nd Streets), Manhattan campus. Guest speakers will include representatives of IBM Systems, Citigroup, and the New York Police Department. This event is free for all members of the NYIT community. Register for the event.
An Evening with Entrepreneurs The NYIT School of Management and the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies invites students and their guests to an open discussion by alumni entrepreneurs on Thursday, March 7, 6-9:30 p.m. at 16 W. 61st St., 11th floor, NYIT-Manhattan. The event, "An Evening with the Entrepreneurs: A Networking and Learning Opportunity," will include presentations, a Q&A session, and a buffet dinner. Read more.
UN Women for Peace Join a march to end violence against women on Friday, March 8, 12:30 p.m. at the United Nations Headquarters (1st Avenue and 46th Street) in New York City. There will be celebrity and dignitary speakers making presentations at 1 pm at Dag Hammarskjold Park (833 1st Ave.), including Malala Yousafzai, Kelly Rutherford, Monique Coleman, and others. Phi Eta Sigma Induction Ceremony Congratulations to all new students eligible for Phi Eta Sigma membership! The induction ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 7 p.m. at Riland Auditorium in Old Westbury (Riland Auditorium) and Manhattan (16 W. 61st St., 11th floor auditorium). Safety Conference NYIT will host this year’s American Society of Safety Engineers Professional Development Conference on Wednesday, March 20, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in Salten Hall, Old Westbury campus. The event will feature a keynote address by Anthony Ciuffo, area director of the Long Island office of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Cost is $40 per student. 3rd Annual Relay for Lunch Help support NYIT's Relay for Life and the Student Government Association to raise much-needed funds toward their $50K goal on Thursday, April 4, 12:30 p.m. in the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. The buffet luncheon is donated by NYIT Dining Services. Cost is a $25 minimum donation. Payments will be accepted at the door; make checks payable to the American Cancer Society.
