Call for Entries: NYIT Gallery 61 Exhibition Submit original artwork inspired by commuting to and from school for an upcoming exhibition. What aspects of your workday commute stimulate your senses? Perhaps it's the colorful landscape of New York City, the people you encounter on a train platform, or the sounds you hear while in transit. Any media can be used to express your art. Heartland Banquet Attend a banquet hosted by NYIT's chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha on Friday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. in the Bear's Den, NYIT-Old Westbury. Cost is $5. Proceeds benefit One Heartland, a nonprofit organization that helps children.
Citation Workshop Stressing out over citations? NYIT librarians will show you how to use RefWorks to manage and cite your sources at a workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 12:45 p.m. at Wisser Library, room L16, NYIT-Old Westbury. Sneaker Drive The Sports Authority and East Coast Conference are partnering on a special initiative through Thursday, Dec. 19. Donate your used sneakers to the Sports Authority at 1230 Old Country Road in Westbury, N.Y., and receive 15 percent off your next store purchase. Donations will benefit One World Running, a nonprofit organization committed to raising awareness of health, fitness, and nutrition around the world. Game Night Every Friday, NYIT's chapter of the Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity hosts a gaming event at 8:30 p.m. at 26 W. 61st St., basement gaming room, Manhattan campus.
Coat Drive The NYIT Office of Residence Life and Off-Campus Housing in Manhattan is partnering with New York Cares to host a coat drive through Friday, Feb. 7. Drop off your gently used coats in donation boxes at the Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, lobby, Loeb Residence Hall, and Manhattan School of Music Residence Hall.
