Here are some upcoming NYIT events, including many options to help people in need by donating food and clothing this Thanksgiving season. For a full list by day, visit nyit.edu/events.
YouGiveGoods Food Drive NYIT is fighting hunger with an online food drive through Saturday, Nov. 30. To date, we've raised almost 700 pounds of food for people in need this holiday season, and we still need your help. You can purchase food online and YouGiveGoods will deliver it to a food bank and email you a tax receipt.
H.U.G.S. Drive Join NYIT's chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha in donating your hats, umbrellas, gloves, or scarves. Drop-off bins are located in Café 9, the Student Activity Center cafeteria, and Harry Schure Hall. For questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com.

Island Harvest Fundraiser Donate food to help those in need, Nov. 7-21. Look for the Island Harvest food boxes in Salten and Harry Schure Halls. There will be a gathering on Thursday, Nov. 21 with more opportunities to make donations, 12:45-2:10 p.m. in the Student Activity Center cafeteria, NYIT-Old Westbury.
App Relaunch Event The Campus Slate will debut the student newspaper's iOS launch of its mobile app on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 12:45-2 p.m. at the Hall of Fame, Old Westbury campus. There will be free food and prizes, including an iPad and gift cards for Moe's Southwest Grill. R.S.V.P. on Facebook.
Free Flick On Wednesday, Nov. 20, watch Sidney Lumet's film Network, 5:30 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, room 102 (The Soundstage), Old Westbury campus. Refreshments will be served.
Energy Management Lecture Attend the presentation, "ISO 50001: The Global Standard for Energy Management Systems," on Monday, Nov. 25, 7-8:30 p.m., in Theobald Hall, room 411, NYIT-Old Westbury. Expert speaker is Don Macdonald, director of sustainability and energy management systems, at UL-DQS, Inc. This lecture is an excellent opportunity for engineering students. Heartland Banquet Attend a banquet hosted by NYIT's chapter of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha on Friday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. in the Bear's Den, NYIT-Old Westbury. Cost is $5. Proceeds benefit One Heartland, a nonprofit organization that helps children.
Game Night Every Friday, NYIT's chapter of the Phi Iota Alpha Fraternity hosts a gaming event at 8:30 p.m. at 26 W. 61st St., basement gaming room, Manhattan campus.
Cut 'n' Paste: From Architectural Assemblage to Collage City Architectural renderings created for NYIT's design of a recycling center in Costa Rica will be included in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art through Sunday, Dec. 1 at 11 W. 53 St., New York City. Read more.
