Globesville

Interior Design Exhibition View outstanding work by NYIT interior design students (pictured) on display through the spring 2013 semester, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Education Hall, rooms 102-103, NYIT-Old Westbury. Read more.

Post-Passover Seder Join NYIT's Jewish Student Union in reading the story of Passover on Thursday, April 11, 5:30 p.m. at Wisser Library, lower level, room L10, Old Westbury campus. Sample ritual foods of the holiday and sing traditional songs. There will be a free three-course Seder, the feast that marks Passover. R.S.V.P. to 516.686.7657 or jfeinsil@nyit.edu.

New York Blood Drives Give blood at NYIT's New York campuses:

  • Manhattan: The Office of Housing and Residential Life is sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Look for the New York Blood Center Mobile Truck parked in front of the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets.
  • Old Westbury: Tuesday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Bear's Den. For more information and/or to schedule an appointment, email mburnett@nyit.edu.

Q&A with David Hyde Pierce Join the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Broadway World for a career conversation with actor David Hyde Pierce on Friday, April 12, 2-4 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Earth Day Events Join NYIT for special events with a focus on the environment:

  • Energy and Environmental Careers Panel Attend a discussion with energy and environmental experts, including NYIT faculty and alumni, on Wednesday, April 17, 5:30-7 p.m. in Harry Schure Hall auditorium, Old Westbury campus. Read more.
  • Earth Day Hall of Fame Speaker Attend an event featuring Lindsay Audin of Energywiz, Inc., on Monday, April 22, 7-8:20 p.m. in Old Westbury (Harry Schure Hall, room DL3 on the second floor) and Manhattan (Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, room 704). He will speak on "How Smart Metering Changed My Life—and Load Profile. Read more.

AT&T Mobile App Hackathon Form a team and compete to win prize money from Friday, April 19 starting at 6 p.m. to Saturday, April 20 until 10 p.m. at Google, 111 8th Ave., New York City. Register for the hackathon.

New York Cares Day Join the Office of Housing and Residential Life to help clean up New York City parks on Saturday, April 20, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you're interested in volunteering, email sheim@nyit.edu.

Civic Engagement Week Join the Community Service Center (CSC) in Manhattan to promote civic engagement on environmental issues such as the importance of recycling, Monday, April 22 - Friday, April 26. Mets vs. Dodgers Join the Student Government Association at NYIT-Manhattan for a baseball game on Tuesday, April 23, 7:10 p.m. at Citi Field, 123-01 Roosevelt Ave., Corona, N.Y. Cost is $15. Register for the event.

Mobile App Launch Party Join The Campus Slate and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for free food, music, and raffles and prizes on Tuesday, April 23, 12:30-2 p.m. in the Hall of Fame lobby, Old Westbury campus. The Campus Slate will unveil its new mobile app.

Globesville XL Launch Party The Department of Communication Arts presents the work of students and faculty members on Globesville.com, an online network to connect the NYIT global community on Thursday, April 25, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Hall of Fame lobby, Old Westbury campus. There will be free food and prizes.

FaceAIDS Dance-a-Thon Dance to raise awareness of AIDS on Thursday, April 25, 7-10 p.m. in the Bear's Den, NYIT-Old Westbury. Cost is $7 in advance; $10 at the door. Email nyitfaceaids@gmail.com.

Transforming Undergraduate Education Workshop NYIT students are invited to attend an engaging workshop about wireless technology in health care on Friday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Lunch will be served. The workshop is part of an interdisciplinary NYIT project funded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate student interest in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math). SOURCE Attend NYIT's Symposium on University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) on Friday, April 26 at the Manhattan campus. Keynote speaker Stuart Firestein will present "Ignorance, Doubt, Uncertainty, and the Beauty of Science." Read more.
