Purple Palooza

Take Back the Night Join NYIT students for an event to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence on Thursday, March 28, 4:30-8 p.m. The event includes dinner at Harry Schure Hall Auditorium followed by a candlelight vigil in the Academic Quad, Old Westbury campus. Purple Palooza Challenge Join the Community Service Center (CSC) at NYIT-Old Westbury for a high-stakes competition and the opportunity to win prizes and support cancer research on Tuesday, April 2, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Academic Quad, Old Westbury campus. Sign up in teams of two for $5 per person or sign up individually and get a partner on the day of the event. All proceeds will benefit the CSC's Relay for Life fundraising effort. 3rd Annual Relay for Lunch Help support NYIT's Relay for Life and the Student Government Association to raise much-needed funds toward their $50K goal on Thursday, April 4, 12:30 p.m. in the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. The buffet luncheon is donated by NYIT Dining Services. Cost is a $25 minimum donation. Payments will be accepted at the door; make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Blood Drive The Office of Housing and Residential Life is sponsoring a blood drive with the New York Blood Center on Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in Manhattan. Look for the New York Blood Center Mobile Truck parked in front of the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets.

Q&A with David Hyde Pierce Join the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Broadway World for a career conversation with actor David Hyde Pierce on Friday, April 12, 2-4 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Energy and Environmental Panel If you're a student majoring in engineering or environmental/energy management, attend this career panel on Wednesday, April 17, 5:30-7 p.m. in Harry Schure Hall auditorium, Old Westbury campus. Speakers will discuss their career paths and answer questions after the panel presentations. Refreshments will be served.

Earth Day Presentation Attend an event featuring Lindsay Audin of Energywiz, Inc., on Monday, April 22, 7-8:25 p.m. in Old Westbury (Harry Schure Hall, room DL3 on the second floor) and Manhattan (Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, room 704). He will speak on "How Smart Metering Changed My Life—and Load Profile."

Mobile App Launch Party Join The Campus Slate and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for free food, music, and raffles and prizes on Tuesday, April 23, 12:30-2 p.m. in the Hall of Fame lobby, Old Westbury campus. The Campus Slate will unveil its new mobile app.

Transforming Undergraduate Education Workshop NYIT faculty and students are invited to attend an engaging workshop about wireless technology in health care on Friday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Lunch will be served. The workshop is part of an interdisciplinary NYIT project funded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate student interest in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math).
