Students from the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) at NYIT-Manhattan have been busy serving up smiles, raising money for hungry children, and breaking barriers and building bridges.
On Nov. 15, HEOP students provided extra hands in the soup kitchen at St. Paul the Apostle Church in New York City, where they helped church staffers to stock and organize a food pantry, and serve meals to patrons. Read more.
Great causes bring great groups of people together, and on Nov. 14 that's exactly what occurred when HEOP students joined forces for the Great American Bake Sale with members of Chi Alpha Epsilon, the NYIT Community Service Center, and the S.W.A.G and Bear Hug clubs. They raised $288 for the No Kid Hungry Campaign, a national effort to end childhood hunger in America by 2015. Read more.
Freshman HEOP students introduced eight students from Mumbai, India, to New York City during a Nov. 15 event coordinated with the International YMCA's Youth Ambassadors Program. They shared lunch, conversation, and team-building activities. Read more.
