NYIT student ambassadors honed their communication skills at the Student Leaders in Admissions Forum hosted by the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling on Sept. 8 at CW Post. They discussed topics ranging from effective visit programs to student involvement in social media, and interacted with student ambassadors from other U.S. universities.

Visit the studio of Yuko Oda, associate professor of fine arts, on Saturday, Sept. 8 or Sunday, Sept. 9, 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. as part of GO Brooklyn Art, an initiative of the Brooklyn Museum. This weekend, more than 2,000 artists based in the New York borough, including Oda, will open their studios to the community.

HEOP Summer Events Recap: Cultural Exchange, Alumni-Student Panel

NYIT's Community Service Center in Manhattan was busy hosting events this summer, including an Aug. 3 cultural exchange with Haitian students from the International YMCA's Youth Ambassadors Program and incoming freshmen from NYIT's Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP). Students practiced team building and discussed personal challenges.

NYIT Launches Its First Digital Academic Catalogs

The 2012-2013 NYIT Catalogs for undergraduate and graduate students are the university's first exclusively digital academic catalogs. Spencer Turkel, Ph.D., in his former role as associate provost, led the digital catalog effort, collaborating with the academic deans as well as the offices of Communications and Marketing, Information Technology and Infrastructure, and Registrar. The 100% online catalog is published on the university's website at nyit.edu/catalogs, accessible via a range of digital devices. Students and faculty will be able to print out pages as needed. The digital effort is contributing to NYIT's sustainability efforts, as well as increasing the reach, accessibility, and searchability of the catalog.
