New Dean Announced at Convocation for Medical and Health Students Medical and health professions students kicked off the fall 2012 semester with a Sept. 10 convocation ceremony, where they received big news—the appointment of Wolfgang Gilliar, D.O., as the new dean of the College of Osteopathic Medicine, effective Jan. 1, 2013. Academic Medicine Scholar Places First in Abstract Competition Congratulations to academic medicine scholar Jonathan Giordano (D.O. '14) on his first-place award in the outreach category of the BIOMEA/SOMA Abstract Competition! The award is given by the Bureau on International Osteopathic Medical Education and Affairs (BIOMEA) and the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA). His abstract, "Malaria Education of School Aged Children in Kwahu-Eastern Region, Ghana; Anansi Tricks Mrs. Mosquito," is the result of research conducted with the NYIT Center for Global Health. ...more
