With more than 27 years of experience in designing and teaching design, the assistant dean and chair of NYIT-Bahrain’s interior design program has some noteworthy accomplishments and real-world experiences to share with her students. Professor Crochet is:
• the best-selling author of Designer’s Guide to Decorative Accessories and Designer’s Guide to Building Construction & Systems.
• a member of the organizing committee for Tasmeem Doha, an annual international design conference held in Qatar
• a member of the 2010 Bahrain nominating committee for the Aga Khan Architectural Award, which recognizes outstanding architectural design projects in the Muslim world.
• a consultant on residential design projects ranging from new construction to historic renovation and restoration interiors work, including restaurants and banks in Doha, Qatar.
• a designer whose work has been featured in numerous publications including The Boston Globe and Yankee Magazine.
Crochet earned her B.A. in visual art from the University of Texas in Dallas in 1985, and a master’s degree in architectural history from the University of North Texas in 1990. She’s taught interior design courses at U.S. and Middle Eastern universities including the University of New Haven in Connecticut and Virginia Commonwealth University in Doha, Qatar.
