Sarah El Gohary Director, Marketing and Recruitment Office: Enrollment Campus: Abu Dhabi
Member of NYIT Since: 2013
Why work at NYIT?
I see NYIT as a world inside the larger world with all different cultures, backgrounds, nationalities, and religions working together to make friends. This supports the idea that we are all one, regardless of anything. This is my kind of world!
Describe your role at NYIT. What are your job tasks?
In the larger picture, I do two things: work hard to put NYIT-Abu Dhabi out there in every way possible (marketing), and educate senior school students and working executives about NYIT to have them join us (student recruitment). These tasks involve lots of advertising, events, networking, public relations, exhibitions, school visits, social media, and more.
What is one of your proudest career achievements?
When I worked at another university in my home country of Egypt, I recruited 21 students from a school that we had never had any students from throughout the years. I didn’t even know about it until the head of the university’s board of trustees contacted me personally and recognized my efforts.
What’s a fun fact about you that others will be surprised to learn?
In addition to my work in marketing and recruitment, I am a singer/songwriter and an Arabic voice-over artist. I have been writing, performing, and producing songs in English and Arabic since I was a teenager.
Best part of your day?
Mornings! I love the sun and the fresh air, breakfast with coffee, and of course listening to music in the morning.
What are your hobbies?
Last year I taught myself how to cook. I went into the kitchen one day and told myself that I should start eating healthy. From my first dishstir-fried beef strips with soy sauce and colored pepperI did it! In Egypt, we use the word "nafas" to describe the ability to cook amazing dishes without having any training as a chef. I am an ordinary person who found passion in cooking and has “nafas” in the kitchen.
