My name is Oliver Vasquez, and I am a Telecommunications Network Management major. I'm currently starting my junior year. I am originally from the Dominican Republic, and now I live in the Bronx. In high school, I took a Cisco Systems course, where I learned about the internet and routers. I really enjoyed learning about networking, so I decided to take this enjoyment further and turn it into a profession. This is what made me come to NYIT.
I'm very grateful and happy to attend NYIT, but mostly to belong to the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP). Belonging to HEOP has provided me with a once in a lifetime opportunity to afford a prestigious university like NYIT. I have met wonderful people and some friends that perhaps otherwise I would not have met, like my lovely counselors Carla and Deepa for example.
I am working hard to make my dreams come true and achieve all that I want in my life, and that starts here with my education. I wish the very best to every one of my classmates, and that each of them gets to where they want to in their lives.
