My first semester at NYIT turned out to be the complete opposite of what I expected. I was happy to find so many new and interesting people here. Since I would be living at the dorms I was a little afraid that I wouldn't like anyone or be excluded from things. It turned out that my roommates are the best roommates anyone could ever ask for. We do so many things together and have grown really close to each other. I have learned to live with people that I don't know, as well as develop new relationships with different kinds of people. A lot of the activities at the dorms are so much fun. There is an ongoing competition amongst the freshman called UFF (Ultimate Freshman Faceoff). Various games and activities are played between the Freshman Halls to see who has the best building. It’s fun to have these little competitions to reduce stress from classes.
My class experience at NYIT has been a good one so far. I like how the classes aren't too big or overcrowded. That was one thing that I feared about college. Being an art major, the art center was really important to me. I found that all of my art classes have been very enjoyable and have helped me develop my skills. I look forward to future classes involving my major and can’t wait for the things to come.
