Why did you decide to join NYIT?
My older brother, a member of the NYIT class of 2002, inspired me to follow in his footsteps and attend college at NYIT. The knowledge he gained here helped propel him forward in his professional career to become the vice president of Sterling Bank. I wanted to experience the same excellent education and experiences. After working at NYIT during my undergrad years, I learned how wonderful and enriching NYIT is.
What do you do at NYIT?
I work in the NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine Library as a public service library associate. I deal with the transaction of books, and help students, faculty, and staff find resources, as well as manage and oversee the circulation desk and student aides.
Why do you like working here?
NYIT is like a second home; I had such a wonderful experience as an undergraduate here that I wanted to remain a part of the community. I also wanted to give back to the current students a piece of what was given to me as an undergraduate.
What has been your favorite experience at NYIT so far?
I really enjoyed the faculty and staff ice cream social when Dr. Guiliano gave an incredible presentation, giving particular attention to all of our questions and concerns. His presentation helped me to better understand NYIT and NYCOM and solidified my decision to begin my professional career as an NYIT employee.
What is your favorite perk/benefit about working at NYIT?
The biggest surprise I ever had was the day I got this job. Throughout my undergraduate years, I was one of many students. Now I'm accepted as a member of the NYIT community. With this, I embrace everything I learned, and I hope to pass on my experiences.
