Why work at NYIT?
NYIT is growing with many opportunities for new initiatives. It's a global institution but has a close community feel. Most importantly, it's a student-centered university, which is what I'm passionate aboutstudent development, growth, and empowerment!
What are your daily job tasks?
Providing service and support to students and their campus organizations by helping to plan programs and events through advising, counseling, and supervising. I have one-on-one meetings with students; serve on university-wide committee meetings; manage events, contracts, budgets, and the Student Activity Center; supervise two graduate assistants; and teach a Foundations of Inquiry course. I'm also a professional on duty for residence life with colleagues in the Office of Student Affairs.
Proudest career achievement
Being named Advisor of the Year by the Association of Promotions of Campus Activities, a national organization. I was chosen from among advisors nationwide who serve in their university's Office of Student Activities.
In addition, I have served as chair of NYIT's Civility Project, an initiative awarded the 2013 Creative Programming Award for Civic and Service Learning from the Long Island College Student Personnel Association. This is the first time NYIT has received the award.
