Kristen Smith Registrar Office: Academic Affairs Campus: Old Westbury

Why is working at NYIT the latest best step for your career?
I was attracted to NYIT because of the dynamic environment, the diversity of the population, and the location. I am excited to be a part of the NYIT community because I believe in the mission of career-oriented education with a global focus.
What do you hope to accomplish in your position?
To continue the excellent work of my team and to continue to improve our operation. The registrar's office plays a critical role in the community, and our goal is always to provide excellent customer service. To that extent, we will continue to look at ways to implement new technologies to serve our constituents, including current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
What inspires you?
I am often inspired by students and admire the dedication and persistence they display to achieve their goals. My favorite quote is "everyone does better when everyone does better."
How do you spend time outside of work?
I like to read and go hiking. Last year, I completed my first Team-in-Training hike in Yosemite, Calif., and raised about $3,000 for research for leukemia and lymphoma.
