I am a second year student at NYIT and work in the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) office. My experience has been great so far. I started as a student in the architecture program but changed to communication arts. I am enjoying the course work and the professors are great. They teach classes about camera/video equipment and allow us to have a hands-on experience. This makes it a fun learning experience.

In addition, I have also had the privilege of being a summer orientation leader and a peer leader for the fall semester. The summer was an amazing experience in getting to know the freshman class because I was one of them in 2008. My experience in being an assistant for the College Success Seminar class made me a better public speaker and gave me the opportunity to encourage students to try their best and not to hesitate if they need to ask a question. My future goal is to leave this school with a job and the skills I need to be successful.
