Being at NYIT, as a freshman, has so far been very insightful and gratifying. Being a part of the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) has helped me in more ways than I can count. This summer, HEOP helped me adjust and transition from high school to college. I learned many pieces of information and techniques that I know will help me step farther forward and achieve my goals. I feel at home and like I will always have someone to watch out for me in my four years here.
I have not been here for long yet, but I love everything about NYIT. The community always has something going on, and you can tell that all of the organizations are here to help students become involved. The students are very social and helpful to one another. We may all be from different places, but we all seem to have things in common. My professors are very knowledgeable and have such great backgrounds. Pertaining to working at NYIT, I have received a position in the school’s library. I am very anxious to start and to interact more with my fellow peers. I hope to learn a lot of new skills that will help me succeed in future jobs and help develop my character further.
As a Graphic Design major, I am enjoying all of my classes so far. It is very exciting to receive hands on experience with materials that I have not often used before. I am also excited to learn from my great teachers who are so greatly experienced in their field of work. I hope to do very well in all of my courses and to further my abilities. Although graduation seems far from now, until that day comes, I will keep on learning and developing my skills, finding who I really am and who I want to be. NYIT has all the tools I need to help me and that is why I know I will succeed.
