Gene Cunningham is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of St. John’s University, with a B.S. in Communication Arts. He was awarded the University’s “Silver Key” for academic achievement. He also holds a M.A. in Media Studies from Queens College.
Gene started his business career in Media in 1977 at Blair Television, where
he spent over 21 years in the Research and Marketing arena. In 1989, he was promoted to the position of Vice President of Research and Marketing. He also spent 3 ½ years
at Blair’s sister company, Petry Television, before moving to FOX Stations Sales as Vice President of Research in June 2001. While at Petry, Gene was the recipient of the “Circle of Excellence Award” for outstanding service. He has been an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Graduate Television and Radio department of Brooklyn College for 25 years and is also and Adjunct Assistant Professor in New York Institute of Technology’s Communications Arts Graduate dept. for the past 5 years. He is the current Chairman of NYIT’s ASC Advisory Board.
From 1986-1989 he was Chairman of the Association of Independent Television’s
Research Advisory Committee and from 1999-2001 he was Co-Chair of the Television
Bureau of Advertising Association’s (TVB) NSAC Research Committee. He is still an active committee member for TVB.
Gene resides in Long Island with his wife and two children.
