Campus: Manhattan Major: Business Administration/Management, B.S.
I am Elizabeth Sanchez, and I was born and raised in the South Bronx. I have a passion for running, and through running I have learned that anything is possible as long as you find your inner strength to accomplish your goal. The reason why I chose NYIT is because of its small campus. I liked that NYIT had a few buildings and was easy to get around. Not only that, but its location is great! I felt comfortable and knew that my professors would be able to have a one-on-one meeting with me and remember me in class. I chose to major in Business Management because I would like to one day open up my own business. I feel that the education and knowledge that I receive from NYIT will help me to achieve that goal. There were many reasons why I chose NYIT, but one is the most important of them all—HEOP! HEOP is a program in which I receive financial and educational assistance. Without HEOP, I wouldn't be attending college or be able to dream of opening a business.
Since I have been a student at NYIT, I have been able to make the best of my time. I was an Orientation Leader and was able to assist in welcoming new students to the college. I knew how scared new incoming students would feel, and I wanted to make their transition a lot easier. Along with that, I am an Orientation Leader and First Year Mentor. I have to keep new students informed about events that are happening on our campus and be a resource for them. I am also very proud to say that I am part of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority. Through Alpha Sigma Tau, I am able to meet new friends and be part of events along with a great team. Soon enough, I am planning on opening my own running/fitness club here on the Manhattan Campus. Aside from all the great positions I hold in different student organizations and clubs, I also work in the Office of the Registrar helping with transfer credits and registration.
