New York Institute of Technology’s main Manhattan campus building will be named the Edward Guiliano Global Center. The building, located at 1855 Broadway, is named in honor of NYIT’s president, Edward Guiliano, Ph.D.

NYIT Launches Alliance with Leading Chinese Polytechnic University

NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., launched a collaboration with the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT). He signed a document of collaboration as a step toward joint academic programs through an exchange of academic materials, research methods, students, and faculty members. The two universities will develop a series of undergraduate and graduate joint degree programs as well as short-study programs for students and faculty in New York and in China.  In addition, the universities have agreed to pursue the opportunity to establish an independent college in China with the approval of China’s Ministry of Education. NYIT President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., welcomed technology leaders to Motorola Solutions’ Golden-i®dea Competition and Partner Conference, a two-day event at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion. The partnership with Motorola Solutions encouraged students to come up with innovative applications for Golden-i, a cutting-edge, wireless headset computer, and provided invaluable networking experience for students.

President Guiliano Opens the Center for Humanities and Culture in Nanjing, China

President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., opens the Center for Humanities and Culture in Nanjing, China.  NYIT has been awarded a $100,000 grant by the U.S. Department of State and the American Embassy in Beijing to establish and operate the center. The result of a partnership between NYIT and Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT), the center will offer education and cultural enrichment that complement NYIT’s academic offerings in Nanjing. NYIT plans to bring in keynote speakers at least once a month, host regular movie nights, and offer English-language media. It also will support conferences on film, language, and literature.

President Guiliano delivered the center's first lecture on Poetry for Engineers: The American Educational Model.

President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., delivered the state-of-the institution address challenging faculty to enrich their courses with technology. He called to provide students with all of the "flavors of learning," including multi-media presentations, online forums, and educational challenges outside of the classroom. As part of the annual convocation, he presented five faculty members with Presidential Technology Awards recognizing their creative and effective use of technology to enhance teaching, research, and service at NYIT.
