NYIT Center for Humanities & Culture Hosts Artist Luke Jaeger

The NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT recently welcomed artist/filmmaker Luke Jaeger. On Thursday, 27 February, Mr. Jaeger visited with students and staff during an informal lunch hour. The following evening, he presented a show entitled “Best Contemporary American Short Films,” in which he screened and discussed films by other artists, as well as some of his own work.

Mr. Jaeger’s appearance was the first in a series of programs at the Center in which audiences engage music, narrative and media reflecting the United States’ Gulf Coast. The series, which will continue throughout the spring, is supported by a Cultural Affairs grant from the U.S. Embassy.

Mr. Jaeger’s work combines traditional, low-tech animation techniques with digital, nonlinear sound and video, avant garde music, and his own sensibility. He grew up in Brooklyn and attended Yale University, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and Massachusetts College of Art. His animated films have been shown in festivals and theaters worldwide.Animation still of cars on the beach
