Cutting-edge artist/filmmaker Luke Jaeger visited NYIT-Nanjing recently to share his work and inspire students. On Thursday, 27 February, Mr. Jaeger visited with students and staff during an informal lunch hour. The following evening, he presented a show entitled “Best Contemporary American Short Films,” in which he screened and discussed films by other artists, as well as some of his own work.
Mr. Jaeger’s appearance was the first in a series of programs at NYIT Campus Commons in which audiences engage music, narrative and media reflecting the United States’ Gulf Coast.
Mr. Jaeger’s work combines traditional, low-tech animation techniques with digital, nonlinear sound and video, avant garde music, and his own sensibility. He grew up in Brooklyn and attended Yale University, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, and Massachusetts College of Art. His animated films have been shown in festivals and theaters worldwide.
