NYIT-Abu Dhabi and three local partners recently hosted two events designed to educate U.A.E. business executives about cyber threats they face and how to protect their investments. The American Chamber of Commerce in Abu Dhabi (AmCham Abu Dhabi), the Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training (CERT), and the BeNeLux Business Council joined with NYIT to support the two events, held on 15-16 January in Abu Dhabi. The first NYIT Global Cybersecurity Conference will also take place in Abu Dhabi, on March 25, 2014.
Rob Marano (above), a co-founder of The Hackerati and an adjunct professor at NYIT, addressed a large audience including the U.S. Ambassador to the U.A.E. Marano’s presentation described the increasing vulnerability of organizations based in the U.A.E. NYIT assistant professor Paolo Gasti also presented his work on designing secure IT systems. NYIT’s provost and vice president for academic affairs, Dr. Rahmat Shoureshi, welcomed attendees on both days.
