NYIT Sends Faculty Members, Student to “Pathways” Partnership Meetings in Peru

Several NYIT faculty members and a graduate student participated this week in the annual meeting of the global “Pathways to Cleaner Production in the Americas,” held this year in Lima, Peru. Representing NYIT's multidisciplinary team were Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., dean, and Marta Panero, Ph.D., director of strategic partnerships, from the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences; Sarah McPherson, Ed.D., Chair of the Instructional Technology Department in the School of Education; and Anakaren Olivo, a graduate research assistant from the School of Management. NYIT-Abu Dhabi welcomes Ahmad Tabbara as the new executive director. Tabbara, originally from Lebanon, has more than 25 years of experience in higher education in the U.A.E, previously serving in academic and administrative leadership positions at Abu Dhabi Men’s College (ADMC) and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT). M.S. in Instructional Technology Approved

The United Arab Emirates Higher Education and Scientific Research Commission of Academic Accreditation has approved the NYIT-Abu Dhabi Instructional Technology program. NYIT-Abu Dhabi will begin offering a Master of Science (M.S.) degree program in Instructional Technology this fall. Read more about this new program offering.

Yatin Patil, Rahul Jadhav, Guan-Ru Huang, Digpalsinh Chhatrasinh, Kiran More, Zi Qin, and Anudeep Nalla were proud to represent their university at the gathering of entrepreneurs, innovators, and business students looking for inspiration. President Guiliano discussed China’s social development relating to technology, resources, and public policy. NYIT TAX CLINIC - 2014

For the second year in a row NYIT Vancouver hosted a free tax clinic on campus where 16 volunteers had an opportunity to offer efiling assistance to low income individuals. SoECS Students Make Whirlwind Trip to Abu Dhabi Cybersecurity Conference

On an otherwise ordinary day in March, Electrical and Computer Engineering students Nicole Gutierrez and Nicole Dunn (both class of 2014) received an email that contained a big surprise: the Dean of the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences (SoECS), Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., was inviting them both to attend NYIT’s first Global Cybersecurity Conference, to take place in Abu Dhabi on 26 March. “It was really unexpected!” said Gutierrez. Cultural Center Introduces Louisiana Cajun Music, Culture to Chinese Students

imageChinese students played their traditional musical instruments in a spontaneous “jam session” with a group of visiting Cajun musicians at NYIT-Nanjing last week. The NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT, one of 17 American Culture Centers in China which seek to foster intercultural communication, hosted a group of visitors from Louisiana for a series of meetings with students.
