Question:  For the Hospitality Management Program, is an externship required to complete the degree or are the externships considered electives?  And can a student defer enrollment for a year even if she is not an international student?

Answer:  Elle, the Hospitality Program requires new students to perform at least 800 hours of internship(s) while transfer students are expected to perform at least 400 hours of internship(s).  As for enrollment deferment, once a student defers enrollment for one year or more, that student must then reapply in order to be readmitted to the program.

Question:  Is there any assistance available for students in the MBA Program with Accounting Concentration?  Also - what is the most effective way to get all the necessary skills needed for a career in accounting?

Answer:  If you are an NYIT alum, you may be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship.  For more information on that and other possible options, I would suggestion you contact the Financial Aid Office http://www.nyit.edu/financial_aid/.  As for acquiring the necessary skills for an accounting career, I would recommend that you speak to the department chair for the Accounting and Financial Studies Department, Dr. J.K. Yun.  Dr. Yun will be able to guide you towards the best courses as well as the most helpful extracurricular activities that will enhance your accounting skills.
