Adeel:  I am interested in the MBA/CFA track program.  I graduated from Hofstra with a BBA in Financ

Hello Adeel, I'm happy to hear of your success at Hofstra and your interest in our MBA/CFA track program! A GMAT is not required as long as your undergraduate GPA is 3.0 or above. As for waivable courses, if you have taken courses that could be submitted for any of those in our waivable core and received a grade of C- or better, you should be able to get those courses waived. With your BBA in Finance from Hofstra, I'd expect you to meet many of the waivable courses but if you have any specific questions, you might want to contact our MBA Coordinator, Ms. Yu Sze Ang at 212-261-1595 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Walid:  I have two years of college overseas,do I need a GED to be admitted in NYIT college?

Great question! In order to be admitted to the NYIT School of Management, you will need to provide proof of one of the following: a high school diploma, an associate's degree, or 24 credits from a U.S. college-level institution. Once you have met one of these requirements, you should then contact Dr. Alexander Ott, Associate Dean of Academic Support and Enrollment Services (email: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address); phone: 516-686-1037) and he can assist you with your admission process. Good luck!

I had my MBA degree at NYIT (many years ago...). Now, I am professor at Technological Educational Institute of Epirus (Greece) - Department of Finance and Auditing, I would like to do a PhD. What chances are there to do this in NYIT and what are the conditions. Congratulations! It's wonderful to see our alumni doing so well! The School of Management has recently applied for AACSB Accreditation and our application has been accepted for our BSBA, MBA, and MS in Human Resources. We may consider expanding our programs once we achieve AACSB Accreditation.

Monica Sawant - Hello Sir,

Hello Sir, I would like to bring to your notice that for MBA degree hardly 15%of the courses are offered in Summer 2012.NYIT has more of international students so students plan their courses and vacations in much advance and they look forward to completing their studies at the earliest and go back to their home country. So the summer schedule should be out well in advance so that students can plan ahead of time. Also, there are hardly any major core courses like Finance,Marketing,Accounting available.Electives too are offered only in Marketing but none in Finance,MIS and Accounting. I and many of my classmates are disappointed with this as we are wasting time in the summer as we are not able to register for more then 1 course. As NYIT has taken this step to enable a 2 way communication I will be happy if our voices are heard and if you could start a few more courses in MBA curriculum at the MA campus for this summer 2012.Thanking you in Anticipation! Of course we have no objection to offering full mix of courses in the summer. I would suggest that you talk to Dr. Afxientiou and Dr. Murdy to discuss your concerns and we can help to address this need.

Amanda:  Are there opportunities to work on business-related projects in my area of interest?

Yes! One of the best opportunities to work on business-related projects is in the Dean's Student Intern Program which is a paid work experience that allows students to work closely with a member of the School of Management Leadership Team on an externally driven or applied project with a local business, student peers, or community partners. More details can be found on the Dean's Student Intern webpage:

Human Resource Management is just one option available to students studying for their Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. This concentration consists of 6 courses and should take a student four years to complete - the same as other concentrations in the BSBA program.

Constance: I’ve been enjoying the PE sessions, but wish there were more. Is that possible?

Absolutely! I am so happy that you are enjoying them. If you contact the director, Dr. Deborah Cohn ( .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) ; 516.686.7710) she might even be able to get some guest speakers to come and talk about things that you are personally interested in. Wouldn't that be great? Feel free to let her know and thanks for going to the sessions!

John Smith asks: Did you always know that you wanted to be a rock star?

Of course, John. Doesn't everyone want to be a rock star? I have always been a guitarist from the days of my youth when I started playing at the age of 7!
