NYIT Students Win Awards at Statewide Business Plan Competition
Two NYIT interdisciplinary student teams won Peoples’ Choice Awards at the New York State Business Plan Competition. The teams – with representatives from the School of Management, School of Architecture and Design, School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, and College of Arts and Sciences -- spent nearly five months researching and perfecting separate strategies for two businesses: an online interactive game to save endangered animals and a water-bottle roofing system that can be used in disaster relief.
At the April 26th competition, team leaders presented elevator pitches for their projects. Dr. Joanne Scillitoe, director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and an associate professor of entrepreneurship in NYIT’s School of Management, was a faculty advisor for both projects. School of Management students who were involved in the winning projects were: Arjun Rai, Shreyas Rami, Shixian Jiang, and Dawei Pang.
