Responsibilities: NYIT’s Central Islip Campus seeks a P/T Cook. Responsibilities include preparing and cooking food according to a daily meal plan and foods required in the operation of the grill station and deli station. Food preparation must be completed in accordance with established recipes and procedures and presentation to maintain quality and quantity control. Operate equipment including slicers, ovens, broilers, fryers and dishwashing machinery. Work with supervisor to determine and maintain daily food usage, ordering food and maintaining inventory records. Maintain standards of HAACP, sanitation, hygiene and food service techniques and safety.
Qualifications: Minimum 1-2 years experience in a commercial kitchen setting, ability to lift 50 pounds, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must be willing to work toward local Board of Health Food Managers training certificate and follow HACCP policies and procedures. Food prep/ cooking experience preferred. Ability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
