Position

Driver-P/T

Department: Food Services

Primary Location: Old Westbury

Responsibilities: NYIT’s Old Westbury Campus seeks a part-time Driver for the Food Services Division. Candidate will be responsible for assisting with deliveries for on campus and offsite catering. Prior experience driving a commercial vehicle required.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Deliver food, beverage, and non-food items to areas and building within and outside NYIT's Old Westbury, Central Islip, and NYC campus.
Complete logs and other necessary documentation with the direction and supervision of Executive Chef of Catering and/or conference planner.
Assist in receiving and storage of deliveries along with the Executive Chef.
Assist in other food service areas as needed and directed by Supervisor.
Manage all catering orders that come in by ensuring they are being delivered to the appropriate locations by the requested times.
Ensure proper follow up with refresh, pick-up, and clean up.
Fill out checklists appropriately, handling the linens properly, and bringing them to de Seversky when they need to be cleaned.
Maintain all inventories of the equipment used for catering and inform the Steward if equipment is missing or damaged.
Comply with department uniform standards.


Qualifications: Must possess a valid Class A NY State Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds and an average of 35 pounds repeatedly.
Able to read, write, speak, and understand English and have basic math skills.
Meet all DOT requirements.
Available for flexible hours which may include weekends, holidays, and evenings.
Flexible to work weekends, holidays, and evenings if needed.
