Primary Location: Old Westbury
NYIT’s Old Westbury Campus seeks a part-time Attendant for the Food Services Division. Candidate will be responsible for operating a cash register and perform a variety of routine foodservice tasks for the NYIT Campus Dining program.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Set up components of the salad bar, and restock grab-and-go outlets.
Clean and cut up fruits and vegetables for use in salads or salad bars.
Set up and stock work areas with all the necessary ingredients and equipment.
Clean equipment and work areas.
Set up cash drawer, operate cash register, and cash out at the end of the day (including reconciliation).
Serve as backup to the cooks if help is needed.
Serve food to students.
Greet customers in a friendly and positive demeanor.
Assist with daily pots and pans, cleaning up lines at end of meal shift, and putting away/disposing of leftovers, cleaning up tables from leftover debris continuously.
Comply with NY State Sanitation Guideline requirements (HACCP), stating that all employees shall keep clean and wear clean outer garments at all times while engaged in handling food, drink, utensils, or equipment.
Comply with all department uniform standards.
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to write simple correspondence; add, subtract, multiply, and divide; carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to communicate courteously, efficiently and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, and parents.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, and parents.
Physical ability to perform the above functions while standing for long periods of time.
Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
May be required to work at one or more university campus and/or location within the department of Dining Services.
