Position

Occupational Therapist (Part Time)

Department: Osteopathic Medicine, College of

Primary Location: Old Westbury

Responsibilities: The College of Osteopathic Medicine at NYIT seeks an Occupational Therapist (P/T) for the Academic Health Center located in Old Westbury. The Occupational Therapist will evaluate patients, establish goals, plan and make recommendations to meet set goals. He/she will provide appropriate interventions, educate patients and caregivers and provide home exercise programs. The candidate will maintain communications with referring physician, stay current in knowledge base and standard practice, complete all notes (currently using electronic medical records system) and submit bills on the day the patient was treated. Candidate will serve as a clinical instructor for students as appropriate for the facility, participate in research projects as needed and conduct community awareness efforts to increase exposure of facility and educate community. He/she will maintain equipment in the workplace as necessary, work as part of a team providing care to each patient and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: New York License to practice Occupational Therapy is required. Individual must maintain licensure at all times while employed at the Academic Health Center at New York Institute of Technology. Two years of occupational therapy experience and experience with individuals with Parkinson’s disease preferred.
