Manager, Campus Dining-Central Islip
NYIT’s Central Islip campus seeks a full-time Manager, Campus Dining, responsible for managing and operating the Campus Dining facility. Candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of daily hot and cold food production, assist staff in daily kitchen production, training of staff in food prep, customer service, food presentation, & kitchen safety and sanitation. This position works with the VIP program in developing and producing healthy and fresh menus. Responsibilities also include adherence to HACCP policies and procedures, costing, inventory, budgeting, placing orders, following standardized recipes, and meeting the dietary needs of the students who reside at the Central Islip campus. This person may be required to perform live cooking demonstrations. Other duties include scheduling for all staff, end of day reports, daily opening and closing of the Campus Dining area, and handling cash and other payment options. Candidate must also be available for a flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Position requires two years of professional culinary training, a minimum of 5 years experience in banquet style service and managing a staff of more than eight in a fast paced food service environment. Must possess a valid Food Managers Training Certificate provided by Suffolk County Board of Health and a valid NYS Drivers license. Ideal candidate must have a strong commitment to teamwork, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be fluent in the use of Excel, Word & Outlook.
