International Student Program Coordinator

Responsibilities: NYIT’s Manhattan campus seeks an International Student Program Coordinator to coordinate with the Campus Programming Board and the Campus Life Team with a goal of creating a welcoming campus environment for international students from diverse cultures. Reporting to the Assistant Director of International Education, specifically the Coordinator will manage the (Office of International Education) OIE’S website by updating the resources on international student initiatives provided by other offices on campus to ensure good coordination of efforts across offices, assist in the establishment of various cultural Student Associations on both campuses as well as assist with new student orientation programs for inbound international students. He/she will coordinate ongoing orientation needs of international students in their first semester/year by engaging international student organizations to participate in the university life and showcase their cultural backgrounds by promoting such cultural programs. The International Coordinator will serve as a DSO (Designated School Official) and assist at peak periods with international student check in and dissemination of immigration information, assist with general advising of international students on maintaining their F-1 status and associated benefits as well as perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree and one to two years’ experience working with international students is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of international and cross-cultural issues as well as have demonstrated knowledge of programming experience, technical skills and able to maintain social media pages. Knowledge of People Soft and SEVIS RTI preferred. Must be a US citizen or permanent resident in order to accept this position, and be flexible to work on the Old Westbury campus when necessary.
