NYIT seeks qualified candidates for the Executive Director/Campus Dean of its campus in Vancouver, Canada. The Executive Director/Campus Dean is the chief operating officer of the campus and reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in New York. Associate & Assistant Deans in Vancouver and staff report to this Executive Director/Campus Dean. Responsibilities include oversight of academic course and program offerings, the administration of an operational budget in support of all campus activities, marketing and development of new programs and opportunities, ensuring that the campus works within local government program accreditation processes and employment laws and regulations, conducting positive and successful negotiations with NYIT partners in BC and Canada, developing engagement opportunities for NYIT alumni in the region, developing successful recruitment programs. The Dean represents NYIT to all external constituencies, including alumni, advisory boards, government officials, local accrediting agencies, the media, and business and civic organizations. The Dean collaborates with the administrators in charge of academic programs in New York to affect academic policies and procedures and supervises career services and enrollment services, as well as a wide range of other support services.
This dynamic position requires the candidate to have the ability to interact with different constituencies to foster the growth and champion the sterling reputation of the NYIT brand. Ongoing relationship building within the community, including, but not limited to: new and existing partnerships with local universities, businesses, international consulates, trade boards and alumni is a key component of the position. Working closely with the Director of Recruitment and Marketing, the ideal candidate will possess the ability to expand enrollment and create a sustainable model for growth. This position will also be charged with envisioning new degree programs, identifying extension or professional continuing education programming opportunities and developing such programs. The Campus Dean will work closely with the faculty, and will supervise non-instructional staff to create an invigorating educational environment for students. The Executive Director/Campus Dean collaborates with the program Deans in New York to affect academic policies and procedures.
The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree, significant management experience in an academic institution, a working knowledge of the British Columbia system of advanced education, including the regulatory system as it applies to degree-granting institutions in B.C., as well as experience working with the business community and developing productive liaisons between academic institutions and the business community. Program-building experience is a plus. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada will be given priority.
