New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) Global Programs seeks a Director for its English Language Institute (ELI) division. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director plays a leadership role in developing, implementing and marketing programs that further University-wide academic initiatives for non-degree, executive, undergraduate, and graduate ELI programs. The Director is responsible for the day-to-day academic and administrative functions of the English Language Institute in New York and at its global campuses, supervises ELI Coordinator, and leads the effort to ensure academic rigor and quality of experience for students. The selected candidate will have a solid academic background and extensive knowledge of ESL or LOTE trends and standards, and has skills to identify and develop new markets for ELI programs. The Director will be responsible for all aspects of the management and administration of ELI including: academics, regulatory compliance, institutional relations on campus and abroad, marketing, finance, human resources, student recruitment, enrollment, and student health and safety. The Director will also be responsible for the direct supervision of the coordinators located at the University's ELI locations across all global campuses, and will provide vision and directions related to ELI global marketing and recruitment. The Director will lead the academic program development and assessment functions for the English Language Institute.
Master's degree and a minimum of ten years of related professional experience, proven administrative experience in academic program development and operations, staff and faculty supervision, experience teaching or doing research in a domestic or foreign institution of higher education, demonstrated international experience, and the ability to work in a collegial manner with faculty, staff, students and parents. Knowledge of a foreign language and a proactive and effective communication style are highly desirable. This position will require travel abroad.
