Position

Director, Compliance and Risk Management

Department: Financial Affairs

Primary Location: Old Westbury

Other Location(s): Manhattan

Responsibilities: New York Institute of Technology seeks a Director of Compliance and Risk Management. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will manage the Insurance and Risk Department, the Grants Administration Department, and work closely with the Information Technology on financial systems. In conjunction with these departments, the Director of Compliance and Risk Management will be responsible for all “non-employee benefit” insurance as well as grant finances, preparation of 1098T forms, and prompt drawdown of federal financial aid funds. The Director of Compliance and Risk Management will partner with all NYIT Financial Affairs departments to support the Division’s ability to document, communicate, and train faculty and staff on policies, procedures, and financial reporting systems. The successful candidate will be a hands-on manager and work closely with the Office of Sponsored Research, Human Resources, Internal Audit, and external consultants to review existing systems and recommend, create, and implement cost-effective, compliant processes.

Qualifications: The selected candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, significant financial, systems, and process improvement experience, and at least five years’ experience in a finance, compliance, technology, or risk management role. Advanced degree and higher education, healthcare or other not-for-profit experience is preferred. The Director, Compliance and Risk Management must be a proven hands-on manager who takes the initiative to identify and solve a wide variety of issues. Project management and process improvement skills are important. Strong verbal and written communication skills needed. This position will be based in our Old Westbury campus but travel to our Manhattan campus will be required on occasion.
