Department: Financial Affairs

Responsibilities: New York Institute of Technology is seeking a Controller to provide strategic leadership and oversight to the accounting, accounts payable, student accounts, payroll departments and to NYIT’s investment portfolio. More specifically, the selected candidate will manage the University’s banking relationships and investment portfolios; work closely with Chief Financial Officer on a range of financial matters and act as the senior finance representative in the absence of the Chief Financial Officer. He/she will maintain accuracy of all financial records and reports and will ensure that proper financial controls are in place in all areas of the University; manage preparation of the annual financial and A-133 audits, IRS Form 990; audit and maintain appropriate financial documentation for the University’s domestic and global campuses; work closely with the President, board of trustees, and senior management.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred), C.P.A. and a minimum of 10 years of professional experience as a senior accounting manager or controller. Experience in higher education or similar non-profit organization highly preferred. The successful candidate will also possess excellent accounting skills, impeccable attention to detail, and ability to see the "big picture" and provide broad business and financial acumen to the University; excellent leadership and managerial skills. This position will be based in our Old Westbury campus but travel to our Manhattan campus will be required on occasion.
