Position

Assistant Director, Business Affairs

Department: Information Technology and Infrastructure

Primary Location: Old Westbury

Responsibilities: NYIT seeks an Assistant Director for Business Affairs. Reporting directly to the Director of Planning, Project Management and Business Affairs, the selected candidate will be responsible for centralizing and managing all financial affairs functions for the Information Technology and Infrastructure (ITI) division, including: departmental operational and capital budgets, contract administration, grants administration, and other central tracking and reporting functions. The Assistant Director will serve as the main point of contact for finance and compliance and provide general administrative support to division administration. Specific responsibilities include: monitoring ITI budgets, expenses, commitments, verification of requests in support of ongoing expenditures; providing ongoing analysis of the budget versus actual trends; preparing monthly, quarterly and year end closings and monthly reconciliation of all ITI operating and capital accounts; researching, reporting and resolving discrepancies; collaborating with department directors within ITI; preparing capital budget submission for all proposed capital projects; managing financial and strategic reporting as well as other related reporting, including budget vs. actual reports, budget forecasts, space utilization report, utility consumption and forecasting report; preparing periodic and on demand presentations and reports in all related areas; assisting the Director in managing the entire portfolio of capital and operating projects and with reviewing and updating forms, policies and procedures; administering and managing contracts for vehicle leases, hardware procurement and maintenance, software procurement and maintenance, security outsourcing, capital leases for technology hardware, telecommunications and internet connectivity service; managing charge back activities, grant support, and auditing and assisting with inventory.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field and 5+ years of related experience required. Master’s degree and prior experience in higher education preferred. The selected candidate must possess the following: minimum 3 years experience in budget and process management; demonstrated prior experience and proficiency in standard and ad-hoc financial analysis, modeling, and reporting; proficiency in all Microsoft Office products with very strong emphasis on MS Excel; ability to manage projects and priorities in a dynamic, fluid environment; strong process and project management skills (knowledge of MS Project server highly desirable); willingness to learn new software, including enterprise-wide applications; ability to work independently and collaboratively and interact effectively with other departments. He/she must also possess a strong attention to details and excellent analytical, communication, presentation and organizational skills.
