Dean of Education

Responsibilities: New York Institute of Technology is seeking an exceptional leader to become the next Dean of its School of Education. The school offers graduate programs in Teacher Education, School
Counseling, School Building Leadership, and Instructional Technology leading to master’s degrees, advanced certificates, and advanced diplomas. This individual should have a strong interest and relevant experience in establishing innovative projects, cross-disciplinary programs, and global outreach. He or she should have a proven track record in initiatives pertaining to teaching and learning in 21st- century schools and preparing educators of excellence. The dean will facilitate collaborative leadership with faculty to integrate cutting-edge technology into classroom and research practices, develop cross disciplinary programs, expand global outreach, and establish the School of Education as a center of creativity and excellence across the educational disciplines. The dean will provide effective leadership and management, and will develop and implement a new strategic plan and vision for the school; recruit new faculty; support and recommend the reappointment, tenure, and promotion of full-time faculty; ensure continued national accreditations for all programs; supervise program chairs and program administration; lead in student recruitment, marketing, and development plans and strategies; manage the school’s financial affairs; represent the school and NYIT to students, parents, professional organizations, articulation partners, business and industry, government agencies and other relevant constituencies; and contribute to the advancement of the mission of the institution and the Office of the Provost.

Qualifications: Qualifications for this position include an earned doctorate from an accredited institution; at least 3 years of experience at the associate or full professor level in a higher education environment combining academic instruction and administration; experience in leading and transforming schools or departments; knowledge of disciplinary and professional trends and higher education activities on the state and national level; evidence of cross-disciplinary program initiatives; experience with global education outreach; a track record in technological innovation in teaching and learning; a record of intellectual achievement including significant publications and grant activities; excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; a collaborative approach to governance; and experience in obtaining and maintaining national accreditations. We are seeking a nationally recognized leader in teaching and learning with technology, and a proven track record in research, published scholarship, and grant-seeking activities.
