Dr. Howard Makofsky, Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at NYIT, recently visited the Paradise Orphanage in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Through his non-profit organization, Kaya's Kids, Inc., Dr. Makofsky and his family provided funding for the establishment of the orphanage in 2008, which is now the home of 120 West African children. Not only are the children's physical needs provided for, but there is also an elementary school on the campus in addition to having a registered nurse provide medical care on a monthly basis. Pictured with Dr. Makofsky is Mr. Len Veitch, a volunteer from Ontario, Canada and Mr. Georges Sawadogo, the builder and director of the Paradise Orphanage.
