DPT Student Sabrina Urso Selected as an NYPTA Director’s Intern

NYPTA Board of Directors Meeting

Sabrina Urso descirbes her experience at NYPTA Board of Directors Meeting on May 1-2, 2014 in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Through the Directors Intern Program for future professionals, I had the opportunity to attend an NYPTA Board of Directors meeting. The experience was both exciting and rewarding. An NYPTA director mentored me on various topics and motions affecting the NYPTA chapter and the future of our profession. Some of these topics included the election of chapter delegates, the issue of high co-pays, and the feasibility of seeking legislation that would permit NY physical therapists to order imaging, lab tests, and prescribe medication. At this meeting, I saw firsthand how the hard work and dedication of these members goes into increasing the public’s awareness and understanding of the role of a physical therapist, as well as the work that goes into the advancements being made for the future our profession.
