Autism Awareness Basketball Game Cheer on the NYIT women's basketball team vs. St. Thomas Aquinas at a game on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 6 p.m. in Recreation Hall, NYIT-Old Westbury. Admission is free for faculty and staff members. The team will donate money raised in 2013 to the Nassau Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America.

Call for Entries: NYIT Gallery 61 Exhibition Submit original artwork inspired by commuting to and from work for an upcoming exhibition. What aspects of your workday commute stimulate your senses? Perhaps it's the colorful landscape of New York City, the people you encounter on a train platform, or the sounds you hear while in transit. Any media can be used to express your art. The deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 15. For more information, email jmitchel@nyit.edu.

Spring 2014 Assessment Day The event on Wednesday, Jan. 15 includes:

  • Morning leadership sessions for deans, chairs, directors, and members of the assessment committee from 10 a.m. to noon in Old Westbury (Harry Schure Hall, distance learning room 1) and Manhattan (Edward Guiliano Global Center, room 701).
  • Afternoon program sessions for all faculty members. Check with your dean about their times/locations.

Health Lecture Attend the first of four Provocative Perspectives on Health lectures on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 4 p.m. at Riland Auditorium, NYIT-Old Westbury. Author Mireille Guiliano will discuss her latest book on health and lifestyle tips for "aging with attitude." R.S.V.P. for the event.

Coat Drive The NYIT Office of Residence Life and Off-Campus Housing in Manhattan is working with New York Cares to host a coat drive through Friday, Feb. 7. Drop off your gently used coats in donation boxes at the Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, lobby, Loeb Residence Hall, and Manhattan School of Music Residence Hall.
