Yoga and Pilates Classes The NYIT Athletics Department hosts free yoga and pilates classes during the fall 2013 semester for NYIT faculty, staff, and students on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:45-1:45 p.m. in Recreation Hall, Old Westbury campus. Participants must bring their own mat (at least a half-inch thick), towel, and water bottle, and dress in workout gear, not street clothing.
Poetry Event Members of the NYIT community are invited to a poetry reading by Terese Coe, adjunct professor of English, on Sunday, Oct. 6, 6 p.m. at Bowery Poetry, 308 Bowery (between Bleecker and Houston Streets), New York City. Cost is $10.
Out in the Workplace Attend an event about building inclusive environments for LGBT employees and students on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 5:30-8 p.m. at KPMG’s Heritage Center, 345 Park Ave., New York City. The event is co-hosted by NYIT and will feature a panel discussion and networking session. Michael Scarpa-Burnett, associate dean for campus life at NYIT-Old Westbury, will be a guest speaker, and English Professor Michael Schiavi will moderate the panel.
