Call for Entries: Lumen Prize Exhibition Submit your digital fine art through Wednesday, July 31 for the Lumen Prize Exhibition. The annual event awards cash prizes and features the art of 50 finalists on a global tour, which includes a November 2013 stop at NYIT Gallery 61 in Manhattan. Read guidelines.
CICU Events The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) is offering events for professionals in the field of higher education, including:
- Navigating Energy Purchasing Webinar will focus on navigating energy markets (such as energy and capacity costs) and five key tips every college and university needs to know when purchasing energy on Thursday, Aug. 1, 1-1:30 p.m. Register for the webinar.
- Grants Workshop will feature a series of sessions with experts from federal and state agencies, including the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation, on Thursday, Aug. 22, 10 a.m - 4 p.m. at NYIT-Manhattan (building/room location to come). Register for the workshop.
Design Awards Competition Enter the Society of American Registered Architects' (SARA) National Professional Design Awards Competition by Friday, Aug. 9. Winners will be honored at SARA's 2013 national conference in October in New York City. Read guidelines.
5K Race NYIT's cross country team will host an Open 5K Race on Saturday, Aug. 10, 9:30 a.m. at the Old Westbury campus. Pre-race registration starts at 8 a.m. on race day. There will also be a free 1-mile fun run for kids. The discounted price for NYIT faculty and staff members is $10. Proceeds will benefit the team. For more information, download a PDF.

Doo Wop Fundraiser Attend a Doo Wop concert for a cause on Sunday, Sept. 30, 3-5:30 p.m. in Riland Auditorium, Old Westbury campus. Cost is $25 per person. All proceeds benefit NYIT's Adele Smithers Parkinson's Disease Treatment Center.
Cut 'n' Paste: From Architectural Assemblage to Collage City Architectural renderings created for NYIT's design of a recycling center in Costa Rica will be included in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art through Sunday, Dec. 1 at 11 W. 53 St., New York City. Read more.
