Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition NYIT Gallery 61 presents the annual Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition through Friday, May 3 at 16 W. 61st St., 11th floor. Work by 17 faculty artists who teach at NYIT's Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses is on display.

Globesville XL Showcase The Department of Communication Arts presents the work of students and faculty members on Globesville.com, an online network to connect the NYIT global community on Thursday, April 25, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Hall of Fame lobby, Old Westbury campus. There will be free food and prizes.

Transforming Undergraduate Education Workshop NYIT faculty and students are invited to attend an engaging workshop about wireless technology in health care on Friday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Lunch will be served. The workshop is part of an interdisciplinary NYIT project funded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate student interest in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math). Shark Tank Swim Ernst VanBergeijk, associate dean and executive director of the NYIT Vocational Independence Program (VIP), will swim in a shark tank on Friday, April 26 at noon at the Long Island Aquarium and Exhibition Center in Riverhead, N.Y. The event honors VIP students who met the dean’s annual fitness challenge by walking more than 62 million steps this year—the equivalent of walking around the circumference of the earth.

Center for Communication: An Evening with Theresa Rebeck Accomplished playwright and Smash creator Theresa Rebeck will give a presentation on Tuesday, April 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Call for RFPs: Classrooms Design Challenge Participate in a challenge to design a student-centered classroom that supports active, collaborative teaching and learning. The winning proposal will be implemented in fall 2013. Proposals are due by Tuesday, April 30. Read more.

Love, Betrayal, and Extraterrestrials Students in acting classes taught by Adam Kraar, adjunct professor of English, will present new work-in-progress theater pieces on Tuesday, April 30, 1 p.m. at 16 W. 61st St., room 822, Manhattan campus. Bully Documentary Screening The NYIT School of Education is sponsoring a free screening of the new documentary, Bully, on Wednesday, May 1, 5 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. The film is directed by Sundance and Emmy award-winning filmmaker, Lee Hirsch. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. A panel discussion will follow the film. R.S.V.P. for the event.

VIP Yard Sale Students from NYIT's Vocational Independence Program (VIP) will have their first yard sale on Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Independence Hall, Central Islip site. If you would like to donate items for the yard sale, call Jennifer Parkinson at 631.348.3122. All proceeds will benefit VIP students with disabilities.
