New York Blood Drives Give blood at NYIT's New York campuses:

  • Manhattan: The Office of Housing and Residential Life is sponsoring a blood drive on Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Look for the New York Blood Center Mobile Truck parked in front of the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets.
  • Old Westbury: Tuesday, April 16, 10:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in the Bear's Den. For more information and/or to schedule an appointment, email mburnett@nyit.edu.

Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition NYIT Gallery 61 presents the annual Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition, Friday, April 12 - Friday, May 3 at 16 W. 61st St., 11th floor. An opening reception will take place on Friday, April 12, 6-8 p.m. Work by 17 faculty artists who teach at NYIT's Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses will be on display. Read more.

Q&A with David Hyde Pierce Join the Screen Actors Guild Foundation and Broadway World for a career conversation with actor David Hyde Pierce on Friday, April 12, 2-4 p.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. TIAA-CREF Appointments A TIAA-CREF representative will be visiting NYIT's Old Westbury campus on Monday, April 15 to provide personal investment and retirement counseling for program participants. To schedule an appointment, call 516.454.4006. Appointments may be scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wisser Library, room LL15.

Earth Day Events Join NYIT for special events with a focus on the environment:

  • Energy and Environmental Careers Panel Attend a discussion with energy and environmental experts, including NYIT faculty and alumni, on Wednesday, April 17, 5:30-7 p.m. in Harry Schure Hall auditorium, Old Westbury campus. Read more.
  • Earth Day Hall of Fame Speaker Attend an event featuring Lindsay Audin of Energywiz, Inc., on Monday, April 22, 7-8:20 p.m. in Old Westbury (Harry Schure Hall, room DL3 on the second floor) and Manhattan (Edward Guiliano Global Center, 1855 Broadway, room 704). Relay for Life All faculty and staff members are invited to participate in NYIT's 5th Annual Relay for Life on Friday, April 19. Join one of the teams already begun at NYIT's New York campuses or start your own. Read more.

New York Cares Day Join the Office of Housing and Residential Life to help clean up New York City parks on Saturday, April 20, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. If you're interested in volunteering, email sheim@nyit.edu.

Civic Engagement Week Join the Community Service Center (CSC) in Manhattan to promote civic engagement on environmental issues such as the importance of recycling, Monday, April 22 - Friday, April 26. 6th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease NYIT faculty and staff members are invited to the fashion show fundraiser on Tuesday, April 23, 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Cost is $75 and includes lunch. All money benefits the Adele Smithers Parkinson's Disease Treatment Center. Globesville XL Showcase The Department of Communication Arts presents the work of students and faculty members on Globesville.com, an online network to connect the NYIT global community on Thursday, April 25, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Hall of Fame lobby, Old Westbury campus. There will be free food and prizes.

SOURCE Attend NYIT's Symposium on University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) on Friday, April 26 at the Manhattan campus. Keynote speaker Stuart Firestein will present "Ignorance, Doubt, Uncertainty, and the Beauty of Science." Read more.

Transforming Undergraduate Education Workshop NYIT faculty and students are invited to attend an engaging workshop about wireless technology in health care on Friday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Lunch will be served. The workshop is part of an interdisciplinary NYIT project funded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate student interest in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math). Call for RFPs: Classrooms Design Challenge Participate in a challenge to design a student-centered classroom that supports active, collaborative teaching and learning. The winning proposal will be implemented in fall 2013. Proposals are due by Tuesday, April 30. Read more.
