Take Back the Night Shatter the Silence. Stop the Violence. Join NYIT colleagues and students for an event to raise awareness of sexual assault and domestic violence on Thursday, March 28, 4:30-8 p.m. The event includes dinner at Harry Schure Hall Auditorium followed by a candlelight vigil in the Academic Quad, Old Westbury campus.   • 8th Annual NYIT Department of Nursing Spring Colloquium This year's colloquium will focus on post-traumatic stress disorder on Thursday, March 28, 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. in Riland Auditorium, Old Westbury campus. For more information, download a pdf.
  • Pediatric Disaster Management Core Curriculum This course designed to prepare health care workers for pediatric emergencies will take place on Tuesday, April 9 and Tuesday, April 23 at NYIT's Old Westbury campus. For more information, download a pdf.

Women’s Body Image Panel Attend a final NYIT event in honor of Women's History Month on Thursday, March 28, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Bear’s Den, Old Westbury campus.

Purple Palooza Challenge Join the Community Service Center (CSC) at NYIT-Old Westbury for a high-stakes competition and the opportunity to win prizes and support cancer research on Tuesday, April 2, 12:30-1:50 p.m. in the Academic Quad, Old Westbury campus. Faculty and staff members should sign up in teams of two for $5 per person or sign up individually and get a partner on the day of the event. Global Culture Webinar The NYIT Office of International Education will host the the webinar, "Today’s Chinese Student: Understanding the U.S. Classroom," on Thursday, April 4, 3-4:30 p.m. at Harry Schure Hall, room 216A, Old Westbury campus. It is open to all staff and faculty members.

3rd Annual Relay for Lunch Help support NYIT's Relay for Life and the Student Government Association to raise much-needed funds toward their $50K goal on Thursday, April 4, 12:30 p.m. in the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. The buffet luncheon is donated by NYIT Dining Services. Cost is a $25 minimum donation. Payments will be accepted at the door; make checks payable to the American Cancer Society. Blood Drive The Office of Housing and Residential Life is sponsoring a blood drive with the New York Blood Center on Thursday, April 11, 11:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. in Manhattan. Look for the New York Blood Center Mobile Truck parked in front of the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway between 61st and 62nd Streets.

6th Annual Fashion Show Fundraiser for Parkinson’s Disease NYIT faculty and staff members are invited to the fashion show fundraiser on Tuesday, April 23, 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Cost is $75 and includes lunch. All money benefits the Adele Smithers Parkinson's Disease Treatment Center. Transforming Undergraduate Education Workshop NYIT faculty and students are invited to attend an engaging workshop about wireless technology in health care on Friday, April 26, 1-4 p.m. at the NYIT de Seversky Mansion, Old Westbury campus. Lunch will be served. The workshop is part of an interdisciplinary NYIT project funded by the National Science Foundation to stimulate student interest in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math). Call for RFPs: Classrooms Design Challenge Participate in a challenge to design a student-centered classroom that supports active, collaborative teaching and learning. The winning proposal will be implemented in fall 2013. Proposals are due by Tuesday, April 30. Read more.
